What moving really means

Your existing records become your starting point.

You do not need to re-enter every transaction. Bring the records you already have, establish what periods they cover, and compare them with the bank. BSA keeps track of what transferred, what matched and what still needs work. Importing records is not the same as confirming the books are correct.

Real client starting points

Different starting points. One place to move forward.

Recent BSA clients have brought records from QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, and spreadsheets. One business arrived with no accounting system at all — just its credit card records. You do not need perfectly organized books to begin.

QuickBooks Online

Bring existing accounting records and compare them with bank activity to identify transactions that may be missing or duplicated.

QuickBooks Desktop

Use available Desktop exports and financial statements as the foundation for import, account mapping and reconciliation.

Spreadsheets

Turn transaction lists and account information into an organized workflow, then check them against statements.

No bookkeeping system

Even credit card statements can provide a starting point. Build the account structure and identify purchases that still need explanation or receipts.

You do not have to clean everything up before you arrive. Start with what you have. BSA identifies the gaps, and you decide whether to resolve them yourself or approve paid assistance.

How moving works

Four stages, with clear checkpoints.

1. Gather and upload

Start with your most recent trial balance, Chart of Accounts, bank and credit card statements, transaction exports and any available customer, vendor, receipt or invoice files. Choose the accounts and periods you want to move. Use a supported connection where available or upload files yourself.

2. Import and organize

BSA processes supported file formats and identifies accounts, dates, amounts and other available details. Review the import preview and mapping, especially account types, credit cards, opening balances and transfers. Do not import the same activity twice. Incompatible or incomplete exports may need a different file or paid assistance.

3. Prove what transferred

Check the starting and ending statement balances for each account and covered month. BSA compares bank activity with imported books, flags unmatched or duplicate transactions, and shows statement months that are missing. A successfully imported transaction is not automatically a verified transaction.

4. Set your working date

Choose when new work begins in BSA. Upload receipts and invoices as they arrive; BSA organizes and processes them. Resolve remaining bookkeeping questions yourself or approve help. Keep read access to your previous system until historical balances, outstanding checks, payables and receivables are verified.

What you will need

Start with the records you already have.

From your accounting system

Chart of Accounts, trial balance or balance sheet, general ledger or transaction detail, open invoices and bills, customer and vendor lists and relevant payroll summaries, when available.

From your financial accounts

Bank and credit card statements for each month being moved, with starting and ending balances. Add transaction exports or supported bank feeds where available.

Supporting documents

Receipts, supplier invoices and documents for unusual entries or transactions that need clarification. You can continue adding these as you use BSA.

A starting date

Choose a date and historical period to verify. If your previous books have incomplete accounts or balances, we identify those gaps rather than pretending the import resolved them.

Free tools or paid assistance

Import yourself for free. Get help when you want it.

Included with DIY — $0

Create your BSA workspace, upload supported exports and statements, use available self-service import and review tools, see identified gaps and continue managing your books and documents yourself.

File formats and supported connections vary; not every export can be imported automatically.

Optional paid migration help

Ask BSA to prepare difficult exports, map accounts, untangle credit card or transfer entries, investigate missing periods, clean up balances, or complete historical reconciliations. We quote the specific work before you approve it.

Nothing is automatically billed simply because your records need additional review.

We show you what came over — and what did not.

Before treating the migration as complete, BSA should show which accounts and date ranges are covered, which transactions match the bank, and what needs follow-up. Exceptions go to the person who can resolve them. You can work through those items yourself for free or request assistance with an upfront price.

No forced upgrade.

Do not pay more to your existing software vendor simply because you need cleaner books or better visibility. Use the exports and access already available to you; when a connection is not supported, we provide an upload path. Some exports, historical cleanup and specialist work may require additional steps, disclosed before any paid work.
